Beschreibung:
Tsubasa Oozora liebt Fußball über alles. In seiner frühen Kindheit hat ihm ein Fußball sogar einmal das Leben gerettet. Seitdem sind Tsubasa und der Ball unzertrennlich. Nachdem seine Familie in die Stadt Nankatsu gezogen ist, stolpert er sogleich in ein Duell zwischen dem Fußballteam der Nankatsu-Grundschule, angeführt von Ishizaki, und den nationalen Champions der Shutetsu-Schule, welche von Ass-Torwart Wakabayashi vertreten werden. Von da an schließt sich Tsubasa dem Team der Nankatsu-Grundschule an, das kurz darauf vom ehemaligen brasilianischen Star-Stürmer Robert Hongo trainiert wird, um der Shutetsu-Schule beim städtischen Sportfest endlich Paroli bieten zu können.
Im weiteren Verlauf begleitet die Serie Tsubasa, Ishizaki und Wakabayashi durch die nationalen Schulmeisterschaften, bei denen Tsubasa vielen neuen Freunden und Rivalen begegnet. Tsubasa arbeitet nur auf eine Sache hin: Eine makellose Bilanz bei den Meisterschaften, denn nur so kann er sich seinen Traum, ein Profifußballer in Brasilien zu werden, erfüllen. Doch seine Gegner – allen voran Kojiro Hyuga vom FC Meiwa – machen es ihm niemals leicht und Tsubasa muss jedes Mal aufs neue seine Technik verfeinern, um den Sieg für sein Team zu ermöglichen.

Hierbei handelt es sich um eine weitere Adaption des Mangas, die das Geschehen der Handlung in die aktuelle Epoche versetzt.
