Auch wenn Kyouko Hori an ihrer Schule für ihre Liebenswürdigkeit und ihr schulisches Können bewundert wird, versteckt sie eine andere Seite vor ihren Mitschülern: Da ihre Eltern arbeitsbedingt oft nicht Zuhause sind, muss sie sich um ihren kleinen Bruder kümmern und den Haushalt schmeißen. Dies lässt ihr keine Chance, außerhalb der Schule Kontakte zu knüpfen.
Izumi Miyamura hingegen wird von den meisten als nachdenklicher, Brille tragender Otaku wahrgenommen, doch in Wirklichkeit ist er ein gutmütiger junger Mann, der sich beim Lernen eher schwertut. Darüber hinaus hat er neun Piercings, die er hinter seinem langem Haar versteckt, und einige Tattoos auf Rücken, Schulter und Oberarm, die er stets unter langer Kleidung verbirgt – auch an den heißesten Tagen.
Als sich Horis und Miyamuras Wege durch Zufall auch außerhalb der Schule kreuzen, staunen beide nicht schlecht, als sie sehen, dass sie sich anders verhalten oder sogar ganz anders aussehen als üblich.
