Bei einer feierabendlichen Trinktour wandert die einfache Büroangestellte Kobayashi auf dem Heimweg ausgelassen durch die Berge und trifft dort auf einen Drachen. Völlig unbeeindruckt von der unwirklichen Situation befreit sie den Drachen von einem verfluchten Schwert, das in dessen Rücken steckt und lädt ihn auf ein Bier zu sich nach Hause ein.

Als sie am nächsten Morgen verkatert und mit Filmriss aufwacht, steht die Drachin Tohru plötzlich vor ihrer Tür - und will zur Wiedergutmachung als Maid für sie arbeiten! Kobayashi lehnt zunächst ab, doch die Nützlichkeit von Tohrus Drachenfähigkeiten gemischt mit Schuldgefühlen lassen sie letztlich doch zustimmen und die beiden wohnen fortan zusammen. Dass dies allerhand andere Drachen, Sagenwesen und sogar Götter auf den Plan rufen wird, ahnt Kobayashi dabei jedoch noch nicht ...
