Eines Morgens findet Wataru Hoshino plötzlich ein schlafendes Mädchen in nichts außer ihrer Unterwäsche in seinem Raum. Als sie aufwacht, flieht sie fix, indem sie aus dem Fenster springt, aber nicht ohne vorher Wataru noch ins Gesicht zu schlagen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass es sich bei dem Mädchen, Rinna Sawaki, um eine Austauschschülerin handelt, die zu allem Überfluss nun auch in dem selben Wohnheim wie er wohnt. Neben Wataru leben in dem Wohnheim noch vier Mädchen sowie ein Lehrer. Aber weil die Temizugawa Schwerindustrie ihre Außenstelle dort nicht mehr haben will, die immerhin die größte Firma auf South Sakojima Island ist, müssen alle Familien, die mit der Firma zu tun haben, innerhalb eines Jahres die Insel verlassen. Da Rinna sich dieser Tatsache bewusst ist, möchte sie keine Freundschaften schließen, denn sie hat Angst vor der schmerzhaften Erfahrung dann von den anderen getrennt zu werden. Doch Wataru sieht ihren Standpunkt nicht ein und versucht sie zu überzeugen sich doch mit ihnen anzufreunden.
