Beschreibung:
General de Jarjayes, das Oberhaupt einer Adelsfamilie, ist besonders aufgeregt in dieser stürmischen Gewitternacht.
Endlich soll ihm ein Sohn geboren werden, ein Stammhalter, ein Traditionsbewahrer, ein... Mädchen. Wutentbrannt beschließt er, das Neugeborene trotzdem mit einem männlichen Namen auszustatten, und so erblickt in dieser Nacht Oscar Francois de Jarjayes das Licht der Welt. Mit dieser Situation beginnt die Manga-Serie um Lady Oscar. Von 1972-1973 erschienen als typisch japanischer Comic, der sich aber vor allem an ältere Mädchen richtete, ein klassisches Shojo-Manga. Als 1979 die Animee-Fassung folgte, war es ein riesiger Erfolg für die inzwischen weltweit bekannten Tokyo Movie Shinsa Studios. Bis heute hat es zahlreiche Neuauflagen und sogar einen Spielfilm unter diesem Namen gegeben, was eindeutig für die Qualität der Geschichte spricht,
die im Original mit sehr vielen historischen Details aus der französischen Revolution angereichert ist.
