Jûbei Kibagami ist ein berühmter Söldner-Ninja, der auf der Suche nach Arbeit durch das feudale Japan wandert. Eines Tages gerät Jûbei zufällig in den Kampf zweier Dämonenclans, um das legendäre Drachenjuwel, dessen Kraft nur die Priesterin des Lichts wecken kann. Auf der Suche nach ihr richten die Dämonenhorden im Dorf der jungen Shigure ein brutales Gemetzel an, dass nur sie überlebt. Shigures Schicksal scheint untrennbar mit dem des Drachenjuwels verbunden zu sein. Mit Hilfe des alten Mönches Dakuan und eines jungen Diebes macht sich Shigure auf die Suche nach ihrer Vergangenheit, um das Geheimnis des Drachenjwels zu lüften. Nur Jûbei kann sie und das Drachenjuwel vor den blutrünstigen Monstern beschützen...
