»Ore o Suki na no wa Omae dake ka yo«, die Anime-Adaption zu Rakudas gleichnamiger Light Novel, folgt dem Oberschulleben des glücklosen Amatsuyu Kisaragi (»Jooro«). Als er eines Tages nicht nur von seiner Kindheitsfreundin Aoi Hinata (»Himawari«), sondern auch noch von seiner coolen Senpai Sakura Akino (»Cosmos«), nach der die ganze Schule verrückt ist, um ein zweisames Gespräch gebeten wird, dachte er bereits, dass sich das Blatt für ihn endlich wenden würde. Gleich zwei Damen sind an ihm interessiert und er kann es kaum erwarten, ihre Liebesgeständnisse in Empfang zu nehmen! Doch alles kommt anders als man denkt … Ihre Liebesgeständnisse gelten nicht etwa ihm, sondern seinem besten Freund, und er ist nichts weiter als der Mittelsmann!
Während er sich also wieder zurück in die trostlose Einsamkeit begibt, bemerkt er eine weitere junge Dame, die ihm häufig Blicke zuwirft: Sumireko Sanshokuin (»Pansy«). Doch mit dieser pessimistisch dreinblickenden Dame mit ihrer Brille und ihrem langen Zopf will Amatsuyu gleich gar nichts am Hut haben, richtet sie doch bei jeder Gelegenheit ihr scharfes Mundwerk gegen ihn und erfreut sich auch noch an seinem Leid! Was will sie überhaupt von ihm? Ist sie etwa auch an einer seiner beiden Freundinnen interessiert? Weit gefehlt! Tatsächlich ist Sumireko trotz ihrer Kommentare die Einzige, die etwas für den armen Kerl übrig hat …
