Maquia wurde in eine außergewöhnliche Familie hineingeboren, deren Mitglieder allesamt im Jugendalter aufhören zu altern. Ihr friedlicher Alltag wird eines Tages jedoch gewaltsam zerschlagen, als der Klan von einer Armee angegriffen wird, die auf das Geheimnis hinter jener Unsterblichkeit aus ist. Ein Mädchen namens Leilia wird entführt und auch Maquias heimlicher Schwarm verschwindet spurlos, doch ihr gelingt die Flucht.
