Gerade eben noch war Student Naofumi in der Bibliothek in das Buch "Die Chronik der Vier Heiligen Waffen" vertieft. Doch schon im nächsten Moment erwacht er in einer Welt, die ihm völlig unbekannt ist. Allerdings ist er nicht allein nach Melromarc, wie die Bewohner das Königreich nennen, gekommen. Drei weitere Mitstreiter wurden durch ein uraltes Ritual hierher beschworen.

Als die Vier Heiligen Helden sollen sie, bewaffnet mit Schild, Schwert, Speer und Bogen, gegen unheilvolle Wellen antreten und so das Land vor seinem Untergang bewahren. Leichter gesagt als getan, denn ausgerechnet Naofumi hat den Schild abbekommen, der keinerlei Angriffskraft besitzt. Mehr noch, nach einem belauschten Gespräch steht es um Naofumis Ruf als Rettung bringender Held eher schlecht. Kein guter Auftakt für das Abenteuer seines Lebens …
