Kotaro ist ein schüchterner Bücherwurm, die sportliche Akane steht ihm aber in Sachen Zurückhaltung in nichts nach. Seit diesem Jahr in der gleichen Klasse der Mittelschule, prallen zudem ihre Welten aufeinander. Lange Gespräche, gegenseitiges Vertrauen und nicht zuletzt der rege Austausch über ihre Mobiltelefone bringen die beiden Freunde einander immer näher. Auch ihren Mitschülern Chinatsu und Hira entgeht das nicht. Doch trotz der starken Gefühle füreinander, müssen sich Akane und Kotaro mit all den Hürden einer jungen, heranwachsenden Liebe auseinandersetzen. Dazu gehören das Überwinden ihrer Schüchternheit, Eifersucht, die eigenen Interessen und letztendlich die ungewisse Zukunft ihrer zarten Romanze. Denn bereits am Ende des Schuljahres müssen die beiden eine wichtige Entscheidung treffen: Welche weiterführende Schule entspricht ihren Interessen und Talenten am ehesten und wie sollen sie ihre junge Liebe in Zukunft aufrechterhalten?
