Izuku Midoriya lebt in einer Welt, in der die Menschheit „Macken“ genannte Superkräfte entwickelt hat. Doch zu seinem Pech besitzt „nur“ ungefähr 80% der Bevölkerung solch eine Superkraft und Izuku gehört zu den restlichen 20%, die ohne Macke geboren wurden. Fest entschlossen, seinen Traum ein Held zu werden nicht einfach so aufzugeben, bewirbt er sich dennoch an der U.A. High, einer der höchst angesehenen Heldenschulen aller Zeiten. Diese Schule bildet junge Menschen zu Superhelden aus, um die Ganoven, die sich auf der Welt herumtreiben, aus dem Verkehr zu ziehen und unschädlich zu machen. Glücklicherweise sticht Izuku dann dem größten Helden der Geschichte ins Auge: All Might! Dieser versichert ihm, dass auch er ein Held werden kann und hilft ihm beim Training, damit er bei seiner Wunschschule aufgenommen werden kann.
