Sechs Jahre sind nun vergangen, seitdem die Digiritter das erste Mal auf ihre Digimon-Partner trafen. Sie sind wieder fest im Alltag verankert und gerade dabei, die Oberschule abzuschließen oder für die Universität zu lernen. Doch wieder einmal wird die Welt der Menschen bedroht, denn plötzlich tauchen einige böswillige Digimon in der realen Welt auf. Wie, ist schnell geklärt: Durch sogenannte „Verzerrungen“, die die Digiwelt mit der realen Welt verknüpfen, können diese anscheinend beliebig die Welten wechseln. Aber wie diese Verzerrungen entstehen und warum einige Digimon auch noch zu allem Übel mit einem Virus infiziert sind, gilt es nun herauszufinden und so beginnt für die Auserwählten ein neues Abenteuer.
