Kazuya ist ein Schüler, welcher einen Gegenstand ganz besonders schätzt: den Stoffgürtel, den ihm seine Mutter gegeben hat. Er trägt ihn immer mit sich herum und es wäre eine Katastrophe für ihn, wenn er den Gürtel verlieren würde. Als er sich eines Tages während der Mittagspause auf dem Dach der Schule entspannt und an seinem Gürtel schnüffelt, wird er plötzlich von einer Perücke angegriffen und fällt vom Schuldach. Jedoch wird er von einem Mädchen in einem Kimino, namens Kiriha, aufgefangen. Diese rettet Kazuya unter der Bedingung, dass er von nun an ihr Diener sei. In seiner Notlage sieht er sich gezwungen zuzustimmen und so besiegt Kiriha die Perücke. Nach dem Kampf jedoch verschwindet Kiriha und mit ihr Kazuyas Stoffgürtel.Zuhause findet er schließlich Kiriha wieder und es stellt sich heraus, dass sie ein „Tsukumogami“ ist. Ein Wesen, welches früher mal ein Gegenstand war: Kazuyas Gürtel. Nun lebt sie bei ihm, kommandiert ihn herum und stellt sein Leben auf den Kopf. Allerdings ist da noch Kazuyas Kindheitsfreundin Chisato, die sich regelmäßig einmischt, und seine überfürsorgliche große Schwester, welche total auf ihn fixiert ist.
