Nach dem tragischen Verlust ihrer Eltern bei einem Autounfall ziehen die Kasugano Zwillinge in die ländliche Residenz ihrer Großeltern, wo sie früher schon glückliche Sommerferien verbracht haben, um sich dort aus den Scherben ihres bisherigen Lebens eine neue Existenz aufzubauen. Konfrontiert mit einer ungewissen Zukunft, klammert sich Haruka an seine Erinnerungen vergangener Tage und hofft so, die Kraft zu finden, sich um seine von den Ereignissen stark mitgenommene Schwester Sora zu kümmern. Diese versucht die Situation dadurch zu bewältigen, indem sie nur in der Gegenwart lebt und Trost und Sicherheit bei ihrem Bruder sucht. Auf dem Land angekommen, treffen sie auf ihre Freundin aus Kindheitstagen Nao, die über ihre Rückkehr begeistert ist, sowie auf neue Freunde, wie die aufgeweckte Miko Akira und deren Freundin Kazuha oder ihren Klassenkameraden Ryouhei. Doch den Zwillingen steht noch eine schwere Zeit bevor, wobei auch so manche Begebenheit aus der Vergangenheit noch eine größere Rolle spielt.
